Brevo vs Kit (ConvertKit): Which Email Tool Should You Actually Use in 2026?

If you’ve searched for an email marketing tool in 2026, you’ve probably run into two names over and over: Brevo and Kit — the platform most people still know by its old name, ConvertKit. Both promise the same thing: build an email list, send campaigns, and eventually sell something to the people on it. But their free plans work completely differently, and picking the wrong one for your situation can cost you months of rebuilding a list on a new platform later.

We tested both while building KasbCraft’s own list, and the honest answer is that neither tool is universally “better” — the right one depends on whether your business runs through landing pages and a single digital product, or through content and automated follow-up sequences.

Kit (Formerly ConvertKit): Best for Creators Who Sell Straight From a Landing Page

Best for: Course creators and writers whose whole funnel is a link-in-bio landing page and a single digital product

Kit’s free plan is generous on paper: up to 10,000 subscribers and unlimited broadcast emails, with no daily sending cap. You also get unlimited landing pages and forms, subscriber tagging, a built-in way to sell digital products and paid subscriptions directly, and full API access — features that are paid add-ons on most competitors. If your entire business model is “build a landing page, capture emails, and sell one thing,” Kit lets you do all three without touching a paid plan.

The catch is automation. Kit’s free plan has no visual automation builder and no email sequences at all — not even one basic one. A welcome sequence, a tag-based trigger, or a simple drip campaign all require upgrading to the Creator plan, which starts at $33/month for your first 1,000 subscribers and increases as your list grows. Kit branding also stays visible across your emails, forms, and landing pages until you upgrade. For a solo creator just capturing emails from a link in their bio, none of this matters much. For anyone who wants a new subscriber to automatically receive a short welcome series, it’s a hard wall on day one.

Brevo: Best for Multi-Channel Marketing on a Real Budget

Best for: Anyone who wants marketing automation, transactional email, and a bigger contact ceiling without paying anything up front

Brevo — the email tool we actually use and test ourselves at KasbCraft — takes the opposite approach. The free plan stores up to 100,000 contacts, ten times Kit’s ceiling, and includes real marketing automation: welcome sequences, tag-based triggers, and drip-style workflows, usable for up to 2,000 contacts moving through active automations at once. Transactional email (order confirmations, password resets) is included on every plan, including free, which matters if you’re running a WooCommerce store alongside your content.

The trade-off is daily send volume: Brevo’s free plan caps you at 300 emails per day, resetting every 24 hours — fine for a list of a few hundred people, tight once you’re regularly emailing several thousand. SMS is sold separately even on paid plans, and free-tier emails carry a small “Sent with Brevo” footer, the same kind of branding restriction Kit applies. Automation is genuinely included, but the 2,000-contact cap on active workflows means a fast-growing list will eventually need to upgrade to keep every subscriber inside an automated sequence.

Which Should You Actually Use in 2026?

If your entire business is a single digital product sold off one landing page, and you don’t need automated follow-up emails yet, Kit’s free plan genuinely gets you further with zero setup. But for most people building a content-driven income — publishing consistently, growing a list past a few hundred people, and wanting new subscribers to receive an automatic welcome sequence — Brevo’s combination of a 100,000-contact ceiling, included automation, and transactional email support makes it the more practical starting point. That’s why it’s the tool we’ve built our own list on, and the one we recommend to KasbCraft readers who are just getting started: it removes the “upgrade to unlock basics” wall that Kit puts up around automation.
